Central Maine Orthopaedics raises $6,000 for Dempsey Center

AUBURN, ME – On Saturday, October 8th, a team of 12 walkers and runners from Central Maine Orthopaedics (CMO) competed in the third annual Dempsey Challenge in Lewiston, raising $6,000 for the Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center.

The mission of The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing is to provide the highest quality of education, support and wellness services to enhance the quality of life of individuals, families and communities touched by cancer. The Dempsey Center includes a cancer resource library complete with a dedicated computer station for patient/public use that allows internet access to virtual cancer resources. The Patrick Dempsey Center includes an integrative medicine treatment room and dedicated space for cancer support group meetings and educational programs.

All participants were asked to raise a minimum of $150 to participate in the weekend’s events, and all funds raised by the team were matched dollar-for-dollar by the Maine Orthopaedic Foundation.
