Problems of the spine are one of the most common reasons patients seek medical care; approximately 80% of people will experience significant back or neck pain during their lifetime. Fortunately, for the vast majority of these people the pain will subside naturally without the need for surgery. Some conditions however require surgical intervention.
Reconstructive spine surgery at CMO is under the direction of Michael Regan, M.D., whose training includes an Orthopaedic Spine Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr Regan is trained to provide treatment of complex spine problems including fracture, disc injury, arthritis and scoliosis. He is one of a few surgeons in New England qualified to treat compression fractures of the spine with kyphoplasy. Kyphoplasy is an advanced procedure which restores the shape and height of collapsed vertebrae utilizing a minimally invasive surgical technique.
The spine surgery practice is located in a state of the art orthopaedic treatment center including an onsite x-ray, MRI, and laboratory and physical therapy.
Dedicated nursing staff provides patients with a single point of contact for questions and coordination of care.
