Dr. Matthew Bush is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who joined Central Maine Orthopaedics in August 2006 and currently practices with a focus on hand and upper extremity surgery. Dr Bush is a member of the medical staff of Central Maine Medical Center, St. Mary's Regional Medical Center and Rumford Hospital. Dr. Bush performs surgery at the Central Maine Orthopaedics Ambulatory Surgery Center, Central Maine Medical Center and St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He is also available for consultation at the CMO Orthopaedic Clinic at Rumford Hospital.
After his undergraduate training at Dartmouth College, where he graduated with a BA in Chemistry, Cum Laude, Dr. Bush graduated from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in NY, NY. He completed residency training at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NY and in Providence at Rhode Island Hospital. Dr. Bush then completed a Fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity surgery at Wake Forest University.
Dr. Bush is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a candidate member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
Along with his brother Jeffrey Bush, who is also a CMO physician, Dr. Bush is carrying on the family tradition as third generation orthopaedic surgeons. Their grandfather, Leonard F. Bush, founded the orthopaedics department at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, and their father, David C. Bush, still practices hand surgery at Geisinger.
