Lauren P. Adey

Lauren P. Adey, M.D.

Dr. Lauren Adey is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in surgery of the hand, wrist, and elbow. She joined Central Maine Orthopaedics (CMO) in 2005.

I became a doctor because I like science. I chose orthopaedics because of my interest in sports — I run, ski, and play tennis and golf. I specialize in hand surgery because hands are amazing. Their anatomy is complex, with many bones, muscles, tendons, and nerves needed for touch and fine motor skills. I enjoy the attention to detail this surgery demands. I often use a microscope to aid in precision during surgical procedures. It is satisfying to restore function when a patient comes in with a hand fracture or a crippling disorder such as rheumatoid arthritis.
