CMO Receives Gold Award

May 12, 2011

AUBURN, ME – Central Maine Orthopaedics and its Wellness Program was recognized by the Healthy Androscoggin’s Work Healthy Award program with a Gold Award for CMO’s initiative to promote the wellness of their employees. CMO, along with other area organizations, were honored at the Work Healthy Recognition Breakfast held during the monthly Lewiston-Auburn Chamber of Commerce meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn.

“I am so happy CMO was recognized for the efforts made over the past two years,” said Jessica Hebert, Wellness Program Coordinator.

The Wellness Program was honored for providing a smoke-free environment for employees and patients alike, physical activity programs, and healthy eating options. Currently, the Wellness Program offers Yoga and Zumba classes for employees, and provides healthy vending options in the staff lounge areas.

“CMO has taken amazing initiatives in bringing wellness into the organization. It’s because of the support from leadership and staff that this program has been able to expand and grow into what it is today. The CMO Wellness Committee is made up of wonderful volunteers that believe in this program and they work hard to make it successful. With the right support anything can be achieved,” added Hebert.

“This is a grass roots program developed and implemented roughly three years ago by our employees and has grown to become a significant part of the CMO culture. I am very proud of our staff for the work done to grow this program into an award winner,” stated company CEO Michael H. Cox, Ph.D.
